BCHC CMCAPA
I work from an ongoing awareness of how our social, political and economic structures—and living with our shared global issues—shapes and affects each one of us in a myriad of direct and indirect ways. This philosophical, ecological, holistic and political outlook informs my understanding of life — of life’s challenges, changes, and the ethics of therapeutic practice.

People come to work with me on many issues. It may be
• to improve their relationships with themselves, with partners, friends or family, or at work
• to develop more effective ways of responding to change
• to work with anxiety, depression, phobias and other life-limiting states
• to address spiritual intelligence and meaning
• to work through the aspects of grief and loss
• to have experienced and empathic support in navigating, and learning, through life transitions relationship break-up, medical diagnosis, work changes, retirement and ageing, sexual issues etc, or for
• mentoring or coaching towards specific outcomes
I work more from a paradigm of possibility, rather than from a paradigm of pathology.
I work with carers through Carers NSW, and with a range of clients in the Arts and other creative fields. My practice also attracts multi-cultural clients and is gay, lesbian and transgender friendly. I believe that life itself is a creative act; that we create and re-create ourselves in every moment.
As Henri Bergson said: “To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.” There is always choice and potential in every situation. Good counselling addresses change effectively. It provides a learned experience in making every change part of a positive, on-going, life process.
I tend to believe that generally, our idea is not to stay in therapy but rather, to gain the tools and insights to become our own therapists in the future. I enjoy working collaboratively, with clients, to this end.
