Alvin Lo

Alvin is a dedicated registered psychologist with extensive experience in private practice, dating back to 2017. Specifically, he provides compassionate support to individuals grappling with stress, anxiety, depression, and significant life transitions. Moreover, he holds a particular interest in fostering self-worth, exploring identity, and understanding behavioural patterns rooted in early life experiences.

Alvin's personal journey, marked by navigating cultural transitions from a young age, has cultivated a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives. Consequently, he understands how formative experiences profoundly shape self-perception. Therefore, he works collaboratively with clients to explore their personal narratives, ultimately helping them gain valuable insights into their challenges and build a more robust sense of self.

In terms of his therapeutic approach, Alvin prioritizes a collaborative and insight-driven process. Instead of offering generic solutions, he guides clients toward deeper self-awareness. To achieve this, he integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy with practical education on the mind-body connection. Additionally, he utilizes Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to facilitate the processing of distressing memories and promote emotional healing. As a result, clients can recognize how past experiences continue to influence their present emotions and behaviours.

Alvin demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous professional growth. Currently, he is actively expanding his expertise in Schema Therapy and advanced EMDR techniques.

Beyond his therapeutic practice, Alvin enjoys a balanced life, finding joy in activities such as baking, painting miniatures, and staying physically active. Similarly, he finds relaxation and tranquillity in caring for plants and cherishing time spent with friends.

Alvin is a Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPI).

Regarding accessibility, he offers face-to-face therapy sessions, with telehealth appointments available for added convenience. Importantly, his services are eligible for Medicare rebates with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan obtained from a General Practitioner (GP).
